Rhode Island is the smallest state in the U.S and is often referred to as the ‘Ocean State,’ with 400 miles of coastline and 30% of its total area including several large bays and inlets. What we lack in size, we more than make up for with beautiful beaches, fishing and boating; history, comprising of 20% of the country’s historical landmarks; and the arts, from world renowned colleges, (including Brown, RISD, and Johnson & Wales), to Waterfire in Providence. We are also on the cutting edge of the restaurant scene with some unique and eccentric places to dine as well as some classic shacks that speak true Rhode Island cuisine.
